  • Species Info

General: Crematogaster pinicola is a small/medium sized acrobat ant with a quick growth speed and a wide appetite. These ants have heart shaped gasters, which many love!

Diet: These ants love and need sugar, but protein is emphasized with these ants. They will eat a variety of dead insects and liquid sugars.

Temperature: These ants need heating to grow and thrive. Keep the nest between 82-87 in some areas, but provide a gradient as well.

Diapause: This species should not require diapause at all. If your colony for some reason slows down in the winter, simply bring them to room temperature for 3-4 weeks. NOTE: Current queens are from Florida and will not require diapause. If you wish to diapause them, do so at no less than 65 degrees for a few weeks.

Growth: Brood development takes 4-7 weeks depending on feeding, heating, and colony stage. These ants can reach 500-1000 workers within the first year if fed lots!

    Queen size: 6-7mm

    Worker size: 3-4mm
